STAGE 1 Awarded to Boys who have: topics: 1. Undergone a course of instruction over at least 2 sessions, and LIST who have also passed a theory test, based on the following 2 Pollution - air, water, noise, thermal at a global level, with a specific focus on Singapore and its region. Resource Depletion - exploitation of natural resources due to human activities like fishing, logging, mining, and how we can help reduce this through our material usage pattern. 2. Undertaken a presentation (Powerpoint slideshow, scrapbook, You-tube movie, or any other form approved by the conducting officer) on the following (a minimum of 7 hours of research and practical work is required): Investigation of the usage of either i. Paper, ii. Metal, or iii. Plastic worldwide and in Singapore, and Identification of opportunities for the reduction, reuse, recycling of either i. Paper, ii. Metal, or iii. Plastic in our community STAGE 2 Awarded to Boys who hold the Stage 1 and have: 1. Undergone a course of instruction over at least 2 sessions, and who have also passed a theory test, based on at least 2 of these topics: In-depth look at one form of pollution, i.e. Water Pollution - covering subjects like acid rain, drinking water, eutrophication, fresh water shortage crisis, oil spills. Climate Change - global warming, fossil fuels, sea level rise, effects of vehicles on environment. Alternative Fuels - use of alternatives for fuels produced from diminishing supplies of crude oil, e.g. compressed natural gas (CNG).
