Further notes: I'm envisioning for this character to have come from an urban fantasy world where magic is hidden from view, but is still implemented secretly in various technologies to gain an edge over competitors. If anybody tries to dig too far into any specific secrets, they'll probably be mindwiped and/or get their asses kicked by the mages and their summoned demons.

Shauna was originally vat-grown by one of the magitech companies as a prototype combined *** toy and magical lab assistant, but during her initial training, the lab she was in was attacked by a secret society of anti-corporate rebels. Normally, they would just free any biological experiments into the world to **** with the corporations, and steal any small, easy-to-use devices that could help them. However, upon noticing Shauna's strong magical footprint, the mage leading the raid decided to take her in.

The mages of the anti-corporate world are a hard-bitten lot, always on guard for potential infiltrators and attackers. However, the mage who took the Shauna in was rather fond of her, shielding her from much of the plotting she would normally be expected to partake in. She had a safe environment in which to engage in learning both magic and science, and her natural inclinations helped her make friendships with others in the underworld. Unfortunately, not all is well with her, as the conflict between her programming, her indoctrination, and her natural inclinations often get in the way of each other. One particularly strong example of this is that she is naturally attracted to women, but was programmed to be a *** object for men, as most of the people expected to buy a product like her would be men. This leads to Shauna having a large amount of cognitive dissonance and psychological trauma.

When the offer came to join Rapture Academy, both Shauna and her mentor were thrilled, because Rapture is a school of near mythical proportions in this dimension. Filled with pride upon arriving at the school, she ended up joining House Hecate, and near-immediately joined a group of likeminded girls who all came from dimensions where magic and technology exist side-by-side (along with some purely specialized in magic), who all desire to further their studies in the field of magitech. This group draws in the ire of Vulcan purists, who despise efforts to sully technology with magic, and thus they go with the classic Rapture method of getting rid of those you dislike- attempting to brainwash and rape them.
