ECO RFID passes industry tests for biodegradability The ECO RFID tags by Stora Enso have passed industry tests for biodegradability, compostability and recyclability. The tags were tested in the following categories: Recyclability: PTS RH 021/97 Recyclability of Packaging Products TAPPI UM 213 (mod.) Repulpability testing Biodegradability: EN 13432 Requirements for packaging recoverable through composting and biodegradation – Test scheme and evaluation criteria for the final acceptance of packaging (2000) ISO 17088 Specifications for compostable plastics (2012) ASTM D6400 Standard Specification for Labeling of Plastics Designed to be Aerobically Composted in Municipal or Industrial Facilities (2019) The test results signify that not only can the ECO RFID tags be recycled in the regular paper and cardboard recycling process, they are also biodegradable and compostable demonstrating that the tags contain only environmentally friendly materials. “Our aim has been to select our raw materials in a way that they enable us to serve high quality and top performing ECO RFID tags to our customers.
