Hey, so yeah yesterday sucked, I have terrible social skills and hate confrontation, having a difference of opinions with someone I like and respect kinda sucks, yeah. I feel socially drained and have uninstalled Discord from my phone, with the intent of just taking a break as I feel unable to do anything currently anyway. However, I still have Discord on my PC and checked it today to make sure nothing stupid happened. Reading your letter was honestly baffling, it's like hearing two entirely different stories. Lemme get out of the way, that I love Lee, don't think any less of him nor will remove his Mod after like 3-4 years on a whim. He's a great guy, just passionate. Oh yeah, and at least from what I saw no one at ANY point insinuated he was a pedo... That was honestly the most baffling part. So lemme try and explain the context I guess? Derevin linked a post in #other-games of a character in Azur Lane that looked incredibly underaged and sexualised, I have no interest in the game so didn't check it but upon seeing this we deemed it unacceptable. We know people enjoy the game, we know people aren't paedophiles otherwise they wouldn't be on the server and should frankly rot in hell. My family ran a small not for profit helping families in legal distress, most often from abuse and child social services. So please believe me when I say I would not be this calm if I suspected anyone even remotely. It's a long standing theme that when games get their own channel, they die out, we didn't want a game people enjoy to fall to the same fate, so #other-games-overflow was the answer for this game and future ones that may need it. This was doubly so because many didn't want to see anime stuff outside of #animu, or that's how I understood it. The update of #rules yesterday was against sexualised underage characters, not the game even if they sometimes cross paths. Aeggis; one of our mods, actually plays the game himself and no one insinuated anything about him. I think a lot of the confusion came from the disconnect between the rules and the game, we were having a pretty big discussion in #mod-chat that resulted in a vote for the updated rule and a ban on Azur Lane, which the latter was voted against. We didn't really get around to discussing the game in regards of what to do about it before Lee did what he did. If we hated the game enough to not even mention its name? It just straight up wouldn't be here, let alone pretty much having its own PUBLIC channel atm. I want to make a community, if something garners activity and isn't inherently wrong, I'd like to support it, hence the channel. What I'm not OK with is this: https://discordapp.com/channels/315247766739615745/367037496455856128/735493664511361084 This has no place in our community and that is what's banned, not the game. I can totally 100% agree my stance on the game was not clear, neither was my creation of #other-games-overflow with the intention of letting the game grow there, and any other passionate sub-community of non-WF games. My "announcement" was a single post in suggestions with no context whatsoever, not even mentioning the game. My social skills are atrocious and I couldn't express my way out of a wet paper bag. I take no offence because... I'm just confused, the two stories of what I remember trying to express, compared to what someone else understood are so, so far apart. I love every single person in #mod-chat, I respect their opinions even if I'm unable to show it. I have no sinister plans or malicious intent with anyone, I'm just a socially awkward dude trying to make a community where he can practice not being so socially awkward. I know Lee's in a dark spot, he's spoken about *some* of it with me a while a go, but I'm sure there's more and his last message in #mod-chat was sombre and disturbing; "And honestly I'm in a dark enough place atm then to come here and try to give my view on stuff just to go into an argument or anything else, I'm so sick of literally everything and just don't want to deal with anything anymore, life ******* sucks and I don't want to deal with it anymore" I don't know what I can say to somehow express what I actually mean, or fix the miscommunications on both parts without making things worse. It feels the stakes have been raised an inordinate amount, we were talking about a freaking anime ship game, which somehow led to someone believing we think they're a paedophile... I cannot even. I'm very, very sorry for what you went through, absolutely no one should go through the physical and mental trauma you endured. I'm sickened the discussion in #mod-chat somehow got to this point, but please know this was never the intent.
