Wary of the overweight bully, and in no hurry to draw attention to herself, Lumi restricts herself to observing the events as they unfold. At the revelation that Chubs had been squirreling away portions of his own food to feed the dog, she might've asked him how he managed to stay fat. Fortunately for the both of them, Lumi had already learned to avoid provoking Chubs, or more accurately to speak to him as little as possible, which was in practice the same thing.

Once the puppy became more attached to Lyra, or Lyra more attached to it, Lumi took a greater interest in it. As to its name, she seemed to have no opinion, addressing the dog mainly as "buddy" with no plans to stop, but to Trisha and Lyra she did have questions.

"Isn't Lyra too young to care for an animal? Won't she hurt it?"

"It's nice Trisha let you keep him. I heard some people drown puppies they don't want. Think she might've done that if it was just Chubs who liked him?"
