Please describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university. I have prepared for Computer Science (CS) by satisfying all prerequisites and upper division math courses by the time I transfer. Additionally, I am currently excelling in my object-oriented C++ class with an ‘A’ and anticipate continued success due to my work ethic both inside and outside of the classroom. Over the years, I have expanded my programming acumen and gained valuable experience by completing extracurricular projects in addition to college courses. I published my first mobile application at the age of 17, which while a basic game, taught me how the Android and iPhone markets work. My second application was more sophisticated and used GPS coordinates to update and display users’ position in real-time. I even got the opportunity to research and apply math formulas to accurately display map images. I gained valuable real-world insight by collaborating with a team in my latest game project, TapStar. I was able to learn and integrate online capabilities, which allowed multiple players to connect and compare ingame high scores. My applications have continued to evolve and be more sophisticated as I’ve gained experience and incorporated learnings from previous applications. Ultimately, I’ve recognized the limits to the knowledge I can gain by myself and hope further my education within the tech field. I look forward to undertaking future projects and expanding my programming acumen both inside and outside university. My experience in the field of computer programming coupled with my success in the classroom, led me to believe that I am well prepared for upper-division classes. Computer science courses have sparked my interests in the tech field and laid a strong foundation to grow into a professional developer in the future. Furthermore, my passion and drive in the field of programming will help me overcome any challenges that will inevitably be presented. I am excited and eager to advance my knowledge in the field of Computer Science by enrolling in your courses.
