1 Hello this is Jacek Pawełczyk, I am CEO of SENSE Software. I would like to talk about our innovations in temperature screening using thermal cameras. 2 WHO estimates that 1 person with COVID-19 may infect another 2 people (some studies indicate that the ground truth even is closer to 4). Among many others, the global pandemic has raised the following question - how to find the people infected with the virus? 3 During several earlier epidemics such as SARS, MERS, especially in Asia, temperature screening has been proven to detect people with fever. COVID-19 however is more subtle to detect, the temperature is usually lower than during mentioned ilnesses and it is a challenge to do it in a smart way. Temperature screening with radiometric cameras is facing issues with: - putting too much trust in the absolute measurement of temperatures - the camera calibration might not be exact; - ignoring conditions of surrounding environment such as ambient temperature or humidity; - too low resolution of thermal image compared to the area being scanned; - lack of standards and good practices; All those together may lead to increased number of infections and decreased trust in thermal imaging. 4 Our system solves described issues by utilizing some smart measures. - we perform smart temperature monitoring by detecting faces in real time and marking only the hot spots on people faces; - the system does dynamic relative temperature analysis among the properly measured samples; - our screening uses artificial intelligence to take into account the environmental conditions; - automated snapshots of thermal and visual images are peformed when elevated temperature is detected; 5 So how does the processing pipeline look like? - At first, the face is recognized and marked on the thermal stream; - Following that, the system compensates temperatures for the ratio of size of face to the entire scene size, distance to the person is estimated; - The temperature patterns on the face are analyzed and the actual temperature of the warmest spots are calculated; - The AI introduces set of environmental components into the resulting temperatures to compensate the measurement; - The smart measurement is compared to the moving average and decision is made on whether the person being scanned has elevated temperature or not; - The results of the current scan are applied to the following frames for better compensation; 6 Beginning of may, we already had 3,5 million of confirmed COVID-19 cases. I checked today, and the number of cases increased to 5 million. Nearly 3 million people are still sick. There are much more cases in reality, but it is cumbersome to test all of those. Some governments in the world are already planning to introduce thermal screening in crowded places. The current situation is not a temporary trend - epidemics of different scale occur almost every year. 7 Being the software provider for thermographers, we have analyzed countries where we see the largest number of orders for our generic software. Only in those 16 countries, we have pinpointed nearly 400 thousand large facilities, each of those usually requiring more than one screening location. 8 We are aware that there are existing systems on the market. We are lucky to have strong team with public health expert onboard and what we discovered is that our competition is sharing the common weakness. I am talking about compensation of the surrounding environment and real understanding of different heat patterns humans have. 9 That is why we are coming to a point, where we are able to calculate the temperature behind masks. Where we are smart enough to see temperature behind the glasses which is normally impossible for thermal cameras. Where we reason above the issues with the calibration. 10 We are a global company, solving daily struggles of thermographers from all around the world, having sold more than 40 000 licenses for our software. 11 The components we have built on the way here, include thermal imaging editor, advanced thermal reporting, live streaming and many others. We take those blocks and merge them together in different way to craft new products in extremely fast pace. Thanks to that, the screening software we are discussing has been created in just two months. 12 We are a young company making money from the beginning. We managed to become a partner to a industry leader - FLIR Systems, who is already ordering our screening system. 13 There are 9 people in our company. My background is technology and I work with thermal cameras for the last 7 years. Joanna is our public health and medical expert, extremely valuable in those tough times. Michał is a fantastic COO with experience in M&A and private equity. 14 We are looking for up to 1M Dollars of investment into the screening project to deepen the studies on the neural networks and thermal patterns which will lead to new level of screening standard.
