On one hand, Ray Bradbury has a tendency to use a concise and simple word choice and is very straight to the point, thus this renders an image directly, letting us witness how Montag saw his life through the prism of emptiness: “The way the clouds moved aside and came back, and the way the stars looked, a million of them swimming between the clouds, like enemy disks, and the feeling that the sky might fall upon the city". On the other hand, if we look at the totality of the Divine Comedy, we see that Dante uses a vernacular language - Italian, it was native to the people, yet stayed idiomatic and robust. The way the Inferno depicts imagery is fascinating, even though in translation, the words retain some traits attributed to “Classics” of literature, Dante’s predecessors: subtlety of thought and attention to detail - the inscription upon the Gates of Hell: “THROUGH ME YOU ENTER INTO THE CITY OF WOES, THROUGH ME YOU ENTER INTO ETERNAL PAIN, THROUGH ME YOU ENTER THE POPULATION OF LOSS JUSTICE MOVED MY HIGH MAKER, IN POWER DIVINE, WISDOM SUPREME, LOVE PRIMAL. NO THINGS WERE BEFORE ME NOT ETERNAL; ETERNAL I REMAIN. ABANDON ALL HOPE, YOU WHO ENTER HERE”.
