Request for changing cutoff criteria for MS program. K Kartik Sharma to admissions, cs-admissions 3 minutes agoDetails Dear Sir/Madam, As you know that the cutoff used for MS program in Cse department this year was gate score 700 & UG percentage 75% for unreserved candidates. I wrote this mail as I thought that the criteria of UG percentage is a little unfair as the marking schemes and difficulty level is not the same at all the universities and so creates an uneven field for the applicants. I am sure that you are aware of the disparity between the grading & checking systems between private institutes and public universities, where at some institutes it is easy to score marks while at some public universities the grading system is very stringent and often students are given wrong marks on multiple occasions. What I am requesting is atleast give more preference to GATE score as it is a common exam for all and possibly lower the cut-off UG percentage a little (the difference between EWS/OBC-NCL cutoff and open category is about 7.5%) , or atleast use a weighted combination of GATE score and UG marks, so people that performed a little poorly in UG but performed well in GATE atleast get a chance for interview. Hope you ponder on this aspect. Thank you for reading.
